The 2024 retreat has now concluded. To be kept informed of future retreats, sign up to our mailing list
Oatlands Art Retreat has been designed to enable you to work on personal projects during the day, while in the evenings we will gather around a meal and hear speakers on subjects from art, to architecture, to local history.
We provide a group studio to work in (including studio essential such as easels, solvents, cleaning materials) and a guide to recommended local plein air locations. A packed lunch is provided each day and a portrait model will be sitting in the studio each afternoon. On Day Three of the Retreat, we are also pleased to present a Masterclass in sky painting in oils with Carol Barnett.
Whether you want to make a start on an entry to the Glover Prize, gather ideas for a new project, work on a series of studies, or just want to enjoy some uninterrupted creative time, we're here to facilitate. If you have any specific ideas or requests, get in touch via the contact page.

Masterclass in sky painting
With Carol Barnett
Carol Barnett is an Australian artist living and working in Tasmania. Drawing from local landscapes and dramatic southern skyscapes, her oil paintings blend high Romanticism with tension around colonialism and the politics of conservation.
